Gilead Maintenance borgata poker room
Location: Edmonton, AB
The Gilead Maintenance borgata poker room project continues a strong relationship between Gilead and Graham as part of a chain of many successful projects completed to date. The project consists of a 4 storey concrete superstructure, with a borgata poker room footprint of 8800 ft2 and overall area of 34,000 ft2. The main purpose of the Maintenance borgata poker room is for the upkeep and servicing of Gilead’s equipment and pharmaceutical systems. Notable features on the main floor include a welding shop, paint shop, millwright shop and instrumentation shop.
The upper levels primarily consist of office space with a tool storage on the 4th floor. The exterior is cladded in metal paneling and curtain wall glazing. With a tight site footprint, Graham utilized a mobile crane to help erect formwork and steel whilst working around various other external projects being completed by the client. Graham coordinated and managed the borgata poker room of the high voltage servicing area where two transformers were installed to service the maintenance building.
Graham provided additional value engineering for the client with over 0k of cost savings by changing the curtain wall assembly from a fiberglass system to aluminum system, implemented a peel and stick installation methodology for the exterior air and vapour barrier membrane rather than torch-on to mitigate safety risks and reviewed the borgata poker room mechanical systems further with the architect to ensure the thermal performance characteristics were not affected.
