We’re excited to be awarded the John Deutsch University Centre (JDUC) and Residence Revitalization project at Queen’s University!
Located in Kingston, ON in the heart of Queen’s University, the JDUC is a focal point for student services and interaction. The proposed revitalization of this multi-component facility involves the demolition and replacement of the 1974 addition, interior renovation to borgata hotel casinothe existing heritage building, and full renovation of residences including lounges and study spaces.
With the proximity to University Avenue, the project aims to dissolve the barrier between campus and community. When complete, the renovated facility will feature a modernized design, with fully accessible, sustainable, and inclusive spaces for students to learn, socialize, and study.
The project has received Heritage Approval with identified conditions pending Site Plan Approval. The heritage designation is for the exterior of Borgata online Sportsbookthe building and select interior spaces, however no work will be done to the interior elements that have heritage definition.
Queen’s University is a client where we have already completed one residence project and are on track to complete another. Being a prominent university, Queen’s is a high-priority repeat client for Toronto Buildings.
Construction has already begun, with completion set for March 2024.
